I am an independent multi-disciplinary artist who works with a range of media that includes light, sound, photography and film, and my projects are often realised through installations.
I often undertake short-term commissions and contracts in the areas of creative-workshop facilitator, educator, mentor, evaluator and consultant.
My background is in photography and I studied at University of Derby in the early 90’s. I graduated in 1997 after completing an M.Phil that explored digital realist montage.
I have spent several years teaching different aspects of photography, new media and design at several institutions that included the University of Derby, the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and the University of Sunderland. Alongside teaching I continued with my own creative practice and have enjoyed several artist residencies. I was the first Digital Artist in Residence at VR and Innovation Centre, Teesside, in 1998, and I was lucky enough to be the Durham Cathedral Artist in Residence for 2000-2001. In 2001 I was invited to become artist-in-residence at Jubilee Arts in West Bromwich, Sandwell, now known as The Public.
I like to work collaboratively and over the last few years I have working with a wide range of artists and groups that include Sean Clark of Cuttlefish, Wildworks, and Noel Dunne. I now regularly work with Brendan Jackson and I am an active member of Laundry, an association of multi-disciplinary artists.
